Gibson and Epiphone bring us five new models under three brand standards. Gibson USA is reviving and reissuing the 1961 SG with SG '61 Reissue Satin model and releases a stripped down variant of a Les Paul Studio called Les Paul Studio Satin. Gibson`s Custom division brings us '50s styled and fully hollow ES-330. The Epiphone, on the other hand reached in the future and brought us back two super-shredders, Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX and Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX. within these five models one can be sure to find at least one fitting his or her style and taste.
Gibson USA SG '61 Reissue Satin comes as a messenger of the times long past and brings us a relic in shape of the original '61 SG, but now revived and refreshed with age accurate modern pickups and seductive satin finishes. Mahogany is a predominant material now, as it was on the original and the solid double cutaway body, along with neck i made of it. Gibson`s '577 Classic humbuckers revive the tone 1961 SG had with surgical precision. Baked maple fingerboard is equipped with 22 frets and acrylic trapezoid inlays. Gibson Custom ES-330 is a fully hollow bodied time machine which brings the player back to the 1950s with every strum. The body is made in it`s entirety out of maple and poplar combination. The top is carved and bound in creme binding which adds up to the vintage flavor of this ES. Underwound P-90 single coils with dog-ear casings are controlled through separate volume and tone controls with a three-way toggle pickup switch. Mahogany and maple neck brings a unique tonal versatility to this model and is equipped with 22 fret rosewood fingerboard. Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX and Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX are two shredders from Epiphone`s metal oriented Prophecy series. Announced as a possible game-changer Prophecy series which started in 2008 is taking big steps towards the top. Both models have mahogany bodies with flat quilted maple tops and white binding. GX model has golden hardware and Gibson USA PAF styled humbuckers, while the EX has black hardware and EMG 81/85 humbucker combo. Other than that, these models are pretty much the same. Mahogany necks with speed taper contours and 24 jumbo fretted ebony fingerboards are assigned to both guitars.
