A brand new historically accurate Gibson Custom recreation hits the stage. Collector`s Choice #6 1959 Les Paul sets some standards for future guitar recreations.
There`s something about Les Pauls from the late 1950s and early 1960s that is almost impossible to express with words, but everyone who has ever picked one up felt it immediately. That kind of magic is possessed only by the finest guitars ever made and Les Paul is, needless to say, one of them. But, the 1959 Les Paul just jumps off the scale, the quality, playability, tone and craftsmanship of that model make it hot even today, after more than five decades. Numerous reissues, tribute models and replicas heave been made over the course of years, but Les Paul enthusiasts always wanted the real thing. And Gibson Custom decided to turn the clock back and take few hundreds of very lucky owners back through time to 1959 with Collector`s Choice #6 1959 Les Paul. No effort or material was spared in creation of this master piece, for only the perfection would be satisfactory result. 300 of these are planned, but eventually, material availability will determine the final number of guitars built.
Gibson Custom Collector`s Choice #6 1959 Les Paul is a single-cut guitar with historically accurate Les Paul contour. Mahogany base is covered with a carved plain maple top. Creme binding and vintage-styled pickguard are featured on the top. Standard tune-o-matic/stoptail bar combo is featured in the bridge section. Pickups had to be built custom for this model and they feature Alnico III magnets. Split volume nad tone knobs are accompanied by a three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck is made of mahogany with maple spleen. Mortise & tenon joint and 1959 contour are featured on this model. On top Gibson Custom installs a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. 12" radius and 1-11/16" wide nylon nut complete the fingerboard. 24-3/4" scale and nickel-plated vintage Gotoh tuners finish the specs list.
