For 2013, the year of Les Paul, Gibson USA has prepared a multitude of new and updated models in both the Les Paul and SG series.
Les Paul has left immeasurable legacy and made huge impact on how we see electric guitar today. Preparations for this have already been made and they include eleven new models and five updated ones. New models from Les Paul series are: Les Paul Signature T, LPJ, Les Paul '50s Tribute, Les Paul '60s Tribute, Les Paul '70s Tribute and Les Paul Future Tribute. Updated Les Pauls are: Les Paul Standard, Les Paul Traditional, Les Paul Studio and Les Paul Supreme. New SG models include: SGJ, SG '50s Tribute, SG '60s Tribute, SG '70s Tribute and SG Future Tribute. The only updated model from SG line is Angus Young SG. Updated models are equipped with new fingerboards, which are now made of rosewood and grandillo, instead of ebony and baked maple. New color options are also introduced. Gold hardware is introduced as option on some models, while the robotic tuners can be ordered with every model in 2013 catalog.
Gibson Les Paul Standard 2013 and Gibson Les Paul Standard 2013 Left Handed come with classic construction and modern electronics. Mahogany back and carved flamed maple top are paired with asymmetrical mahogany neck. This neck is fatter on the bass side and thinner on the treble side. BurstBucker Pro pickups are equipped with coil-splitting for increased versatility. Body of the new LP Standard is strategically chambered for both the better tone and improved playability. Rosewood is now used for the fingerboard and it comes with classic appointments, 22 frets, trapezoid inlays and 1.695" nut. There are five new color options available for this model. Gibson Les Paul Traditional and Gibson Les Paul Traditional Left Handed are updated fro the upcoming 2013 and celebrations dedicated to Les Paul. For the new year, weight relieved mahogany body is topped with a flamed maple cap. Carved top, elevated pickguard and creme binding give the the body of the Traditional LP splendid vintage vibe. '57 Classic humbuckers are installed in the pickups section. These vintage-styled humbuckers are based on original PAF pickups and faithfully recreate their tone. neck is made of mahogany and it sports a '50s contour in the back. Body of this model is equipped with an elevated pickguard and Les Paul`s traditional bridge combo, which includes a tune-o-matic bridge with stoptail bar. Gibson Les Paul '50s Tribute and Gibson '50s Les Paul Tribute Left Handed are brand new and are a part of four-model tribute to Les Paul Each of the Tribute models celebrates a certain period of his work and legacy. '50s Tribute emulates the tone and feel of the earliest Les Paul guitars from the 1950s. It comes with P-90 pickups and rounded mahogany neck, characteristic for that period. Thus, SGJ guitar is made of flat mahogany body and maple neck with rounded '50s contour in the back. Gibson SG '50s Tribute and Gibson SG '50s Tribute Left Handed are dedicated to the first years of solid bodied electric guitars. They come with the appointments characteristic for 1950s guitars, even though SG guitars did not exist back then. Classic construction of this model includes a thin and flat mahogany body in combination with a set-in mahogany neck. P-90 singe coil pickups were very popular back then, because they were stronger than any other single coil on the market. By the end of the 1950s Gibson came up with humbuckers, but P-90s continued a successful life up to this day. Neck is equipped with '50s contour and 24-fret rosewood fingerboard.
