Gibson guitars are synonymous with top quality and magnificent tone. They helped shape what we now know as music, even far beyond the boundaries of rock 'n' roll. Over the past sixty years, carious Gibson`s models from Les Paul and SG palettes were played on some of the most iconic and defining records and concerts. With that heritage, new Gibsons have gigantic boots to fill, and mark some new milestones in music history for generations to come. Today, Gibson Guitars represent three new models: Gibson Les Paul L6S, Gibson Les Paul Studio '50s Tribute Humbucker and Gibson SG Special Limited.
Gibson Les Paul L6S
Back in the '70s, the L6S was one of the most progressive and modern Les Pauls around. Many a distinguished guitarists of the era played it, proving that innovation and tradition can go perfectly hand in hand. Broad tonal range and materials little bit unusual in Gibson catalog were combined with some of the classic Gibson features, such as 22 frets, dual humbuckers and tune-o-matic bridge. Today`s Gibson Les Paul L6S sports the same characteristics as the '70s model and a tone as big as the original had.
Design aspects of Gibson Les Paul L6S combine the slim profile and beautiful Les Paul curves packed into a solid body made of maple, a material rarely used as a body tone wood at Gibson Guitars. Since there is no top wood, Gibson luthiers decided to go with a clear glossy nitrocellulose finish to accentuate the beauty of the maple`s grain. Bridge option is a more traditional one with a classic couple - the tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar. This combo is in charge of unprecedented stability and adds up to the incredible sustain this baby has.
Electronics department on Gibson Les Paul L6S is taking this guitar beyond the usual meat-and-potatoes with magnificent Alnico 490R humbucker in the neck and 498T in the bridge position. This two-hearted power plant is able of producing an unbelievable range of tonal options under the command of a six way rotary pickup switch. The switch features settings for each pickup playing in full humbucker and single coil mode and combined humbucker and single coil mode. These six options are accompanied by bass and treble roll of pots and a master volume pot.
Gibson Les Paul L6S features further blend of tradition and innovation with a maple neck with a mortise and tenon joint and a Slim Taper profile. Fast and smooth, the neck provides the ultimate playing experience. Maple fingerboard has 24 frets and black dot inlays. Other features include: 12" fingerboard radius, 1.695" nut width, 24-3/4" scale length, Corian string nut, Grover tuners, chrome hardware and a black pickguard. This model is available in Antique Natural color scheme.
Gibson Les Paul L6S brings all the natural beauty of the maple combined with fantastic pickups and electronics for a stunning tonal range and quality. MSRP for this model is set at $2599. Check Les Paul L6S at our detail page or at Gibson Guitars official web page.
