Gibson USA re-launches the famous M-III model.

Gibson M-III is Back

Another blast from the past hits the stage this fall, as Gibson USA re-introduces their most successful shred-oriented axe, the M-III.

According to the overall theme of the catalog, Gibson USA is reviving another veteran model. This time, it is not a Les Paul, nor is it a Thunderbird, or SG. This time, all the lights are set on an unlikely candidate from the early 1990s, the one and only M-III. Back in the day, M-III was Gibson`s attempt on the shred guitar segment, but Ibanez, Jackson, ESP and a few other brands (such as Gibson`s own Kramer) have already had a firm grip on the market and M-III slowly faded and fell out of the catalog. Some may argue that the first half of 1990s wasn`t a very good choice for Gibson to venture in shred waters, as the alternative rock and grunge have started taking over with re-introduction of 1960s garage rock-like simplicity and overall melancholic atmosphere. Today, some 20 years after and with the new and invigorated wave of American heavy metal in full control with it`s super heavy riffs and shred leads, Gibson USA reintroduces the epic M-III double-cut. It remains to be seen, whether the current incarnation of the M-III can withstand the ever more ferocious competition in shred segment. It will be out in early November with the MSRP being set at $2,082.

Gibson USA M-III is a solid, double-cut guitar which mixes Gibson tradition with the Superstrat segment standards. For example, while still having the mahogany body, M-III introduces a maple neck, instead of the traditional mahogany neck. Also, the traditional slim taper is replaced with a more modern contour. 12” radius is gone and M-III`s neck now has a compound radius. Maple fingerboard on the top has 24 jumbo frets. Solid and double-cut mahogany body is topped with a genuine Floyd Rose trem and three Dirty Fingers pickups in HSH configuration. Coil splitting, 25-1/2” scale, vibrant and mesmerizing glossy color schemes and black hardware wrap the specs list.
