Three guitars and one bass are being unveiled by Gibson USA as a brand new '70s Tribute edition. Les Paul, SG, Firebird and Grabber models are featured.
Seventies were a great decade and awesome time to be young guitar or bass player. Many of today`s cult bands were becoming popular at that time and a lot of them played and recorded on Gibson instruments. In order to celebrate this period of music history Gibson USA has prepared '70s Tribute line of models. It consists of three electric guitars and one electric bass. This allows every player who longs for the '70s to find something for themselves. Guitars introduced this time come from Les Paul, SG and Firebird series, while the bass is a Grabber. Les Paul Studio '70s Tribute, SG Special '70s Tribute, Firebird Studio '70s Tribute and Grabber III '70s Tribute are the names of the models.
Gibson USA Grabber III '70s Tribute Bass is the only four stringer in the pack and it`s a killer. Double-cut maple body is combined with a set-in maple neck for that extra punch and clarity. Especially for this model Gibson developed G3 Bass pickup. This single coil is installed in bridge, middle and neck positions. Controls include master volume, master tone and a three-way toggle pickup switch. The set-in neck comes with slim and fast contour in the back and baked maple fingerboard on top. 20 frets, dot inlays, 12" radius and 1.50" wide corian nut complete the fingerboard. 3-point adjustable bridge and Grover tuners are plated in chrome. Gibson USA Firebird Studio '70s Tribute is the first of three guitars featured in this article and it comes with a familiar Firebird contoured body. It`s made of mahogany, it`s solid and flat on top. Tune-o-matic bridge is combined with stoptail bar in the back. On guitar models of this line Gibson installs Dual Blade Alnico minibuckers. All models have H/H pickup configurations. Dual volume and tone knobs are accompanied by a three-way toggle pickup switch. Maple neck is set and topped with a baked maple fingerboard. 22 frets, dot inlays, 12" radius and 1.695"wide corian nut are featured on the fingerboard. Grover tuners and 24-3/4" scale complete the specs list. The MSRP for this model is set at $1,399. Gibson USA Les Paul Studio '70s Tribute is a model from the new '70s Tribute line and it`s based upon the well known Studio from the Les Paul series. It kicks off with a traditionally weight relieved body made of mahogany base and carved maple cap. Bridge section is the same as on the Firebird and SG models, it includes tune-o-matic bridge in the front and stoptail bar in the back. Dual Blade Alnico minibuckers are installed on this one as well. They come with Alnico II magnets. Controls include separate volume and tone knobs with three-way toggle pickup switch. Maple neck is set and equipped with '70s contour. Baked maple fingerboard has 22 frets, figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1.695" wide corian nut. Gibson USA SG Special '70s Tribute is the third guitar model introduced into the '70s Tribute lines and it comes with a solid, double cut mahogany body with beveled edges. Other than that, top is completely flat and equipped with black pickguards on all four color options. Bridge section is a standard combo of tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail bar. Same as Les Paul and Firebird models, this one also has Dual Blade Alnico Minibuckers. Controls unit is also the same. Maple-made neck has '70s contour and mortise & tenon joint. Baked maple is used for the fingerboard. 22 frets with block inlays, 12" radius and 1.695" wide corian nut are featured on it. Tuners are plated in chrome and provided by Grover.
