Joe Perry`s 1959 Les Paul is the only Gibson Custom update. Music City Jr and Jason Hook M-4 Sherman are settled in Gibson USA division.
Gibson Guitars have come up with three smashing novelties for NAMM 2013 and they are divided two to one in favor of Gibson USA division. The only update unveiled for Gibson Custom that is being reviewed in this text is beyond-the-words gorgeous 1959 Joe Perry Les Paul, the closest thing to playing Joe`s original 1959 LP. It will be made in only 200 copies and will feature one of the most exclusive specs lists ever seen. Gibson USA gets two models: Music City Jr with B-Bender and Jason Hook M-4 Sherman. Music City Jr is a cross between the Gibson and Nashville traditions packed into a Jr package, while the M-4 Sherman delivers lightning attacks and tank-worthy firepower. Both are solid-bodied and based on Gibson`s legendary guitars.
Gibson Custom 1959 Joe Perry Les Paul is one of the most beautiful and most accurate replicas made by Gibson`s Custom division is past several years. It boasts super-luxurious appointments and absolute top quality tone woods. Traditionally, the body is made of mahogany back and flamed maple top with creme binding, elevated pickguard and mind-blowing Faded Tobacco Sunburst color scheme. 50 models will be made in aged and signed variant, 50 will be only aged and 100 come with VOS treatment. Mahogany neck is set and topped with the finest 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Custom Bucker pickups are installed on this model and guarantee a kind of tone possibly only Joe`s own guitar can replicate. Gibson USA Music City Jr with B-Bender is one very successful mix of two rather different styles and traditions. Gibson`s classic Junior Les Paul is made of ash, instead of mahogany and features a set in maple neck, instead of the mahogany neck with mortise & tenon joint. On top, there`s a hardtail bridge, tortoise shell pickguard and a pair of Gibson`s P-90s. Pickups can be tapped, if the player desires the country twang. B-Bender system is the most prominent feature of this model. It is located on the back side strap lock and gives a new dimension to the tone, when used. Maple neck is topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of maple, instead of rosewood, or ebony. For more info check Music City Jr detail page on our site, or on Gibson Guitars official web page.
The third model reviewed this time is Gibson USA Jason Hook M-4 Sherman model. It is essentially the 1958 Explorer with deeper cutaway, beveled upper edge and custom paint job. It will only be available in 400 copies. It`s very distinctive appearance includes military rank stripes over the Alpine White color base. Body of this model is finished in gloss. Standard 2-piece bridge unit is fronted by a pair of brilliant Seymour Duncan pickups. JB is in the bridge and '59 in the neck position. Mahogany neck is set in and topped with a 22-fret granadillo fingerboard. For more info check M-4 Sherman detail page on our site, or on Gibson Guitars official web page.
