Gibson USA comes with a brand new SG model for 2013. It is one of the most faithful vintage replicas available on the market.
Only a week and a half into the 2013 and guitar industry is up on it`s feet and running full speed ahead. There is not much time for holiday haze and rest. Gibson USA is working full time, full force and they are reshaping their catalog for this year`s NAMM Show, which is just a couple of weeks away. Plus, this is the year of Les Paul for Gibson and Les Paul and SG series are getting a major overhaul. Part of that make over is newly introduced SG Original model. This one comes with a set of vintage-styled '57 Classic humbuckers, which are, as people at Gibson say, the most faithful recreation of the original PAF humbuckers made by Seth Lover. These come with chrome-plated covers and the standard controls unit. Volume and tone knobs on this one are accompanied by a standard three-way toggle pickup switch. Bridge section features tune-o-matic bridge with Vibrola bar and trapezoid tailpiece in the back. Bridge section is also plated in chrome.
Gibson USA SG Original comes with a thin, double-cut and flat body made of mahogany. There`s no top wood cover and no binding around the top. Traditional SGs had very modest decorations. The edges are beveled and the trademark horns are there. Back in the day, SG was famous for it`s fast, comfortable and accessible neck. This feature has not changed in over 50 years, for SGs of today also have some of the finest necks in the industry, This particular model has a mahogany neck with 19th fret set-in joint and the original '60s contour in the back. On it`s top Gibson installs a gorgeous fingerboard made of bound rosewood. It has 22 medium jumbo frets, figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 1-11/16" corian nut and 12"" radius.
