Godin, Richmond and Seagull unveiled their novelties at NAMM Show 2012. Solid electrics, semi-hollow, semi-acoustic guiatars, solid basses and acoustic guitars lines were updated.
Godin Guitars are among the prominent guitar manufacturers for decades. And, for 2012 they bring us three semi-hollow bodied guitars in brand new Core series. Models are: Core HB, Core P90 and Core EMG. Solid bodied models are represented by novelties in Session line: Session Plus, Session Plus Left Handed, Session Custom and Session Left Handed. Semi-acoustic guitars are represented by brand new Multiac Steel Duet Ambiance. In electric bass section, there is Shifter Classic. Richmond, Godin`s subsidiary brought Empire Mahogany P-90 and Seagull introduced their Natural Elements series.
Godin Core HB is a guitar from the brand new Core series. This line emerged a few years after the Icon series, which also had single cutaway models with set necks. Core represents a stripped down, bare bones option for players who are looking for both the playability and affordability. Core HB kicks off with a chambered mahogany body and maple top. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and attached to the body with a set-in joint. Pickups are made by Godin and accompanied by split volume and tone knobs. 22 frets, 24-3/4" scale and Graphtech wraparound bridge wrap the specs. For more info check Core HB detail page on our site.
Godin Core P-90 is a base model of the Core line and comes with basically the same specs as other two guitars. The biggest difference is in the pickup area, where this model features two P-90 single coils. These pickups are mounted onto a chambered single cutaway body made of mahogany back and maple top. With a mahogany made neck and rosewood fingerboard, this guitar has great tonal qualities. With the addition rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and dot position inlays, specs are rounded off. Godin Core EMG is the top model of the Core line with it`s elegant black body and hot active humbuckers in bridge and neck position. 81 is in the bridge and 85 in the neck with split controls and a three-way toggle switch. Chambered mahogany back and maple top are combined with a mahogany neck through a set-in joint. This top cat features a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and dot inlays. Godin Session Plus and Godin Session Plus Left Handed are updates for the Session line and they come with some very interesting electronics options. Basswood body is made with a double cutaway and paired with a bolted maple neck. Pickups combo is configured in H/S/S pattern and features a mini switch with three positions for manipulating the humbucker. There is also a High Definition Revoicer button. Fingerboard can be made of either maple or rosewood for these models. 22 frets with dot position inlays wrap the specs. Godin Session Custom is fashioned similarly to the legendary Telecaster and features a solid basswood body with a maple neck. Pickup combo on this one is a rare feature with single coil pickup in the bridge and a humbucker in the neck. High Definition Revoicer button is still there along with master volume, master tone and a five position blade switch. Godin Session Left Handed is a brand new model for 2012, and it represents the change in Godin catalog, as it now offers several left handed models. It is basically the same as regular Session, but is made for left handed players. Basswood body is solid, has a double cutaway and flat top. Maple neck is attached to the body with a bolt-on joint and has a 22 fret fingerboard with dot position inlays. Fingerboard can be made of rosewood or maple. Semi-acoustics department is updated with a brand new Multiac Steel Duet Ambiance. It kicks off with a semi-hollow single cutaway body made of chambered mahogany back and solid spruce top. This model is on the fine line between an acoustic-electric and a semi-hollow bodied electric. It features rosewood bridge and acoustic guitar amplification in shape of Fishman Aura system. Godin Shifter Classic represents the Godin Bass Department. It updates the Shifter line which enjoyed great success with it`s regular four and five-string models. This classic Shifter kicks off with a solid Canadian basswood body and bolted maple neck. The bridge comes with either top-load, or string-through construction. Pickup combo includes two passive Godin pickups in J/P configuration. Alongside master volume and master tone, there is also a four position blade pickup switch. Richmond Empire Mahogany P-90 is updating Richmond`s Empire line of solid single cut guitars. This one comes with a solid mahogany body and combined with a bolted mahogany neck. Special feature of this guitar are it`s Godin P-90 pickups which bring bucket loads of sustain and bite. Split volume and tone controls are accompanied by a three-way toggle switch. Seagull`s Natural Elements series comes with alternative wood options instead of exotic and other expensive tonewoods. Cherry, heat of wild cherry and flamed maple with amber trails are under the spotlight of Natural Elements series. Each of these three woods is available in dreadnought, mini-jumbo and folk shapes and featuremaple binding, open-gear butterbean tuning machines and satin finish.
