Gretsch introduces another six-string stunner into the Electromatic collection. This one is bound to please all the fans of the hollow-body tone.
Gretsch is among the most prominent and traditional brands of acoustic and electric guitars out there. Their reputation is on the same level as Gibson, Fender, Washburn and Rickenbacker. Back in the 1950s and 1960s, Gretsch played a big role in electric guitar expansion with their super modern and advanced six-stringers. Today, Gretsch is dedicated to the preservation of the tradition of the early days of rock music. Their Electromatic, Professional, Synchromatic, Roots and other collections deliver modern instruments in vintage packaging and with vintage tone. Some of Gretsch models are made primarily for modern types of rock `n` roll, but a vast majority is still oriented towards the semi and fully hollow-bodied models with 1950s/1960s styling and tone. The newest addition to the Electromatic Collection is the G5420T model, the successor of the 2012 model of the same name. This single-cut belongs to the intermediate class of Electromatic guitars with MSRP being set at $1,250 for all four color options.
Gretsch G5420T is a fully hollow guitar with a vintage-styled single-cut design. It fuses the vintage styling and tone with modern materials and modern production methods. Thus far, this recipe has proven to work just fine for Gretsch Guitars. G5420T has a fully hollow body made entirely of laminated maple. Three-piece bridge both looks amazing and does a fantastic job, together with vintage tuners, on keeping the intonation and tuning in check. Standard FilterTron humbuckers are featured in the front, making sure the signature Gretsch tone is delivered spot on. Neck is also made of maple and it is topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Fingerboard is bound in white and features humpblock inlays, along with 1-11/16" wide string nut.
