Gretsch Updates the Electromatic Collection

A quintet of new hollow-body Electromatic guitars hits the stage.

Gretsch Updates the Electromatic Collection

Check out the new Electromatic Hollowbody models. They`re cool, they`re fresh and they bring all the tone and pizzazz Gretsch is known for.

Gretsch`s Electromatic Collection is getting bigger and stronger with each passing year, constantly expanding its roster and price range. The most recent developments include Electromatic`s Hollow Body section, which just got stronger for five brand new models. G5422TG, G5422G-12, G5422T, G5420T and G5420LH are the names of the new guitars. All feature double-cut bodies (except the 5420 models), six-string construction (except G5422G-12) and some of the most standard hardware and electronics options seen throughout the Electromatic Collection lineup. Prices range from $1,149 (G5422T, G5420T, G5420LH) to $1,349 (G5422TG and G5422G-12).  Walnut Stain, Orange Stain, Aspen Green, Snowcrest White and Fairlane Blue color options comprise the color palette.

Gretsch G5422TG is one of two models equipped with gold-plated hardware (the other being G5412G-12). Other than that, it is pretty similar to its brethren. Maple and rosewood in plentiful supply, together with Blacktop pickups, guarantee the classic/modern Gretsch tone. Detachable pickguard, bound “f” holes, classic Bigsby tailpiece and humpblock inlays complete the visual theme. For more info and full specs list, check the G5422TG detail page on our site or Gretsch Guitars official web page.

Gretsch G5422TG

Gretsch G5422G-12 is the only twelve-string model of the five reviewed in this article. Just like its six-string twin (G5422TG), it costs $1,349 and features the same tonewoods and hardware. The only difference is found in the string count but, other than that, these two are identical guitars. For more info and full specs list, check the G5422G-12 detail page on our site or Gretsch Guitars official web page.

Gretsch G5422T is a twin model of the already introduced G5422TG, save for the gold-plated hardware. Other than that, these two are one and the same guitar. Fully hollow body made of five-ply maple, maple neck Filter`Tron pickups, 22-fret fingerboard and classic Gretsch controls are all there. For more info and full specs list, check the G5422T detail page on our site or Gretsch Guitars official web page.

Gretsch G5422T

Gretsch G5420T offers a single-cut body, as opposed to the previous three double-cuts. But, it still features the same body materials, same electronics and hardware. Also, it sports a Bigsby tailpiece. This single-cut rocker comes in Fairlane Blue, Aspen Green and Orange Stain. For more info and full specs list, check the G5420T detail page on our site or Gretsch Guitars official web page.

Gretsch G5420LH is the fifth and last Electromatic Hollow Body model we`ll review for you, and it`s the only lefty model featured on the list. As far as the features and specs go, it is an indigo copy of G5420T, except for the bridge unit – trapeze tail replaces the Bigsby. For more info and full specs list, check the G5420LH detail page on our site or Gretsch Guitars official web page.
