Ibanez updates the RG series with a smoking hot RG8. It is situated within the RG Fixed section of the catalog and it brings unprecedented levels of tone and sustain.
Ibanez is perhaps best known as a brand that can skillfully balance between the technological forefront of the industry and innovation on one side, and everyday models on the other. Now, the concept of the eight-string guitar is not a novelty for Ibanez, nor it is a novelty for the industry, but Ibanez manages to hit some key spots with this new eight string beast. Concept is fairly plain and simple, it`s an RG with fixed bridge and bolted neck. Eight strings are spanned across the 27" scale and run through the Gibraltar bridge and body, as well. A concept that has been seen before, but what really sets the RG8 apart from it`s rivals is the sheer ferocity of the Ibanez humbuckers installed in front of the bridge. They are active, marvelously balanced and they give bucket loads of sustain. Tone is modern, strong and the low end is very well defined. This way Ibanez overcomes the usual weak spot with eight-stringers-the muddy low end with undefined tone. These pickups are controlled with a fairly simple unit, which consists of a master volume, master tone and three-position blade switch.
Body of this metal machine is a solid one, it`s flat and double cut and made of basswood. There is no top wood cover on Ibanez RG8, as it is almost a rule that RG models, at least the ones in Tremolo and Fixed series, to go with barren flat tops. Also, there is no binding. Back features anatomic contour on the bass side. Body is available in two variants, one is black with gloss finish and black hardware and the other one is white with gloss finish and black hardware. Both look great and ready to rip and tear. Five-piece neck is bolted to the body and it`s equipped with Wizard II contour on the back side. Smooth finish and unrivaled comfort give the player instant advantage over his/her rivals and peers. rosewood fingerboard is made with 24 jumbo frets, white dot inlays, 15.75" radius and 2.16" wide string nut. String nut is a non-locking one and it`s paired with a set of eight black-clad Ibanez tuners. For more info on this hot eight-stringer check RG8 detail page on our site or on Ibanez official web page.
