New semi-hollow Riviera 1966 brings together the style, tradition and affordability. Japanese construction and hardware, US pickups and world class style in one.
As the title indicates, in the review section of this article we`ll take a look at the brand new Epiphone Limited Edition model. With 2015 approaching, Epiphone`s rearming the catalog with both the permanent and limited edition entries in a pretty good pace. This time around, a semi-hollow double-cut is being introduced. It is being made in Japan, as opposed to the rest of the Epiphone`s east and south-east Asian production. The main reason behind this decision is tradition. Epiphone`s Limited Edition Elitist 1966 Custom Riviera Outfit is a tribute model to the original 1966 Riviera guitar which was manufactured in Japan. Along with the Japanese hardware, this gorgeous Riviera will have US made electronics and pickups. This set of circumstances and features will, most certainly, add a few extra bucks onto the price tag, but this Riviera Custom is more than worth. Especially when US made hardware and electronics are being taken into consideration, any price tag within the boundaries of the regular Epiphone catalog would be a bargain for an instrument of this beauty and quality.
Epiphone Limited Edition Elitist 1966 Custom Riviera Outfit is a double-cut and semi-hollow electric guitar with a gorgeous vintage-styled body made of maple. Back, sides and the carved top are made of laminated maple. Set in neck is made of mahogany, thus completing the classic Riviera construction pattern. Hallmark decorations include a single-ply white binding, elevated pickguard and a pair of “f” holes. While the Gibson USA donates the minibucker pickups, rest of the hardware is made in Japan. Mahogany neck has a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. For a more in-depth review, check Elitist 1966 Custom Riviera detail page on our site, or on Epiphone official web page.
