Nineteen guitars update the Luna Guitars catalog for 2012, sixteen of them are acoustic-electric and three are fully acoustic models.
Luna Guitars catalog is significantly expanded and updated for 2012. There are 19 brand new models, of which 14 are acoustic-electric and 5 fully acoustic. They are spread across seven series with Americana, Oracle and Gypsy receiving the vast majority of new guitars. New Americana guitars are: AMF 100, AMP 100, AMJ 100, AMM 100 and AMZ 100. Oracle Folk lines are reinforced with Rose and Phoenix. Oracle Grand Concert comes with: Peace, Tattoo, Koi and Butterfly. Fauna series has one novelty, the Koi model. Woodland received Bubinga model, and Nylon series brings Rose Nylon. Gypsy Artistic series is updated with Gypsy Lady of Shalott and Gypsy Spirit of the Night. These were acoustic-electric updated. Luna AMF 100 opens up the novelties list, and it belongs to Americana series. Inspired by some of the most popular guitars from the golden age of acoustics, Americana line brings vintage feel and tone. AMF 100 is folk shaped acoustic-electric guitar with rosewood back and sides and spruce top. Luna AMP 100 is an elegant little parlor update for the Americana series. It is smaller and narrower than folk and dreadnought models, but offers as much tone. It kicks off with Americana standard combination of rosewood back and sides and spruce top. Wood binding, tortoise pickguard and triple circle rosette make sure this parlor gets it`s share of vintage looks. Luna AMJ 100 is the Americana Series` jumbo model, and it comes with rosewood backs and sides and spruce top. The ebony fingerboard on this guitar has a standard setup of 20 frets with Moon Phase position inlays. Wood body binding, tortoise shell pickguard and multiple circle rosette pay excellent homage to the traditional American acoustic guitars. This jumbo is also powered up with B-band electronics. Luna AMM 100 Mimbres is inspired by Mimbres pottery found in the Southwest of North America and in Central America. Third fret inlay features a rabbit on the moon, which is a motif taken from one of the pots. The sound hole rosette jagged lines represent the lightning, a motif also found on ancient bowls. Rosewood and spruce make up the body of this themed grand concert guitar, while the neck is made of mahogany and equipped with ebony fingerboard. Luna AMZ 100 draws it`s inspiration from Zia pottery found in the American Southwest. The sunburst finish on this model matches the color of Zia pottery, and the sound hole rosette represents one of essential motifs found on South Western pottery. Moon Phase inlays were dropped in favor of Sun inlays. The Sun is depicted as it rises in the morning `till it is set in the evening. Luna Oracle Rose is the first of six Oracle Series updates. The Oracle line pays special attention to guitar ornamentation, and this model received a beautiful sound board inlay in shape of two rose flowers and branches and leaves between them. This inlay is done with paduak, mahogany and dyed maple. Mahogany backs and sides on this non-cutaway folk guitar are matched with spruce top. Phoenix is a symbol of rebirth, power and beauty, and it is found inlaid on the sound board of the Oracle Phoenix, the second folk-shaped Oracle series novelty for 2012. Across the bass side of the sound board, inlaid in rosewood, the Phoenix spreads it`s wings to inspire the player. With a peace symbol carved into the sound hole, Oracle Peace is the first of four grand concert updates to the Oracle line. Around the sound hole and across the bass side of the sound board, written in several languages, word peace is etched into the wood. This laser carving is made by Alex Morgan. Oracle Tattoo is inspired by Polynesian traditional tattoo art. it is characterized by strong geometrical shapes which depict stones, waves, sun, rain, birds. From around the sound hole and across the bass side of the sound board, etched by laser, sits the tattoo carving. It is inlaid upon the cedar top to symbolize the dark ink upon the tanned skin. Mahogany is used for the back and sides, and neck as well. Fingerboard is made of rosewood and equipped with 20 frets. The legend of Koi says that the koi fish must first swim through the ocean of adversity to reach the dragon waterfall. There, it must climb the waterfall and pass the dragon gate in order to become a dragon. Bass side of the spruce sound board features a Koi inlaid in mahogany. Luna Fauna Koi is a guitar directly inspired by the Oracle Koi model. Main differences come in color options and styling. Fauna Koi comes in black with gloss finish. Also, the Koi fish inlay is done in abalone, instead of rosewood. Crescent rosette is done in abalone, as well. Nylon series in Luna catalog have a task of making the nylon-stringed variants of some of the most popular Luna steel-stringers. For 2012 this line is reinforced with Nylon Rose model, a folk cutaway guitar with mahogany back and sides and quilted mahogany top. Safari Series is in charge of production of down scaled and travel-friendly acoustic guitars. The novelty for 2012 is Safari Tattoo, a model which features the same theme and sound board carving as Oracle Tattoo. This is a fully acoustic guitar with a 22" scale. It has a body entirely made of mahogany and finished in natural satin. 20 fret fingerboard is still there, and it sports a standard set of 20 frets with moon phase inlays. Models of Gygpsy series are oriented towards the beginners and players on a tight budget. they provide quality options in the entry level area of the market. The first of four novelties for 2012 is Gypsy Bubinga, and it is a grand auditorium model with cutaway and body made of mahogany back and sides and spruce top.
