A total of 34 acoustic models were introduced at this year`s NAMM, 28 steel-stringers, 4 nylon-stringed models and 2 acoustic-electric basses.
For this year`s edition of the NAMM Show, as well as for the upcoming spring and summer of 2014, Ibanez has prepared over 30 acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars and basses. Half of these models belong to the Artwood range. Three of them constitute the initial lineup of the Artwood Vintage series, while the rest of them are being introduced into the standard Artwood series. PF gets six new models, taking the second place, right behind the Artwood. AEW has received three new models, while AEG, AEL and AEF get one guitar, each. PCBE is the only acoustic-electric bass series updated and it gets two new models. Classical series is being updated with four models. One seven and one eight-stringer are being introduced into the Classical series.
Artwood Vintage
Ibanez AVD1 is the first of three models introduced into the Artwood Vintage series. It is a fully acoustic dreadnought guitar with body made of mahogany back and sides and spruce sound board. Ibanez AVN1 is one of two parlor-shaped guitars introduced into the initial lineup of the Artwood Vintage series. It comes with a non-cutaway parlor body made of mahogany base and spruce sound board. Ibanez AVT1 is the third and final model introduced into the Artwood Vintage series. Also, it is one of two parlor-shaped guitars. Artwood
Ibanez AW535 is a full-sized dread with a non-cutaway body and standard mahogany neck with the classic 14th fret joint. Rosewood is used for the back and sides, while the top is made of the standard spruce. Rosewood is also used for the compensated bridge and fingerboard. Ibanez AW535C is an acoustic-electric variant of the AW535 model. It features the same materials, design and construction as the previously reviewed dread. The only difference is the existence of the electronics on this model. Combined Fishman and Ibanez electronics are used on this model. Ibanez AW400 is an intermediate solution is the new and revised Artwood series lineup. It comes with a non-cutaway dreadnought body and the standard dovetail connected neck. Back and sides of the body, as well as the entire neck, are made of mahogany. Top is made of spruce and bridge and fingerboard are made of rosewood. Ibanez AW400CE is one of thirteen models introduced into the Artwood series at 2014 NAMM show. It comes with a single-cut dreadnought body made of mahogany back and sides and spruce soundboard. Ibanez AW450 follows the same concept as the already mentioned AW400. But, instead of the spruce soundboard, it rocks the cedar soundboard. Other than that, these two models are pretty much identical. Both are non-cutaway dreads with standard necks and 20-fret fingerboards. Ibanez AW450CE is an acoustic-electric equivalent of the AW450 model. Both of them feature mahogany-based bodies with cedar soundboards on top and mahogany necks with rosewood fingerboards n them. Ibanez AW400L is the left-hand variant of the AW400. Everything on these two models is identical with only the orientation being the opposite. Ibanez AW54 is an all-mahogany dreadnought with non-cutaway design and traditional construction. PF
Ibanez PF15 is a dreadnought guitar introduced into the famous PF series. This fully acoustic dread comes with vintage styling and combined vintage/modern construction. Ibanez PF2MH is the dreadnought variant of the PF series all-mahogany section. Non-cutaway dreadnought body is made entirely of mahogany and is paired with a mahogany neck. AEW
Ibanez AEW21VK is the first of three Exotic Wood series updates introduced at this year`s NAMM. It comes with a single-cut AEW body made of ovangkol back and sides and spruce soundboard. Ibanez AEW22CD is also an Exotic Wood series model. It rocks the unique combo of cordia on the back and side panels of the body and spruce on the top. AEG
Ibanez AEG240 is the only update of the famous AEG line. It comes with a compact and single-cut body made of mahogany and flamed maple. The main feature of this model is it`s USB port installed next to the regular ¼” output jack. Through the USB port, this one can be instantly connected to the PC. AEL
Ibanez AEL1512E is an acoustic-electric twelve-stringer. It comes with a big and voluminous AEG single-cut body made of maple back and sides and spruce soundboard. Ibanez G10 is one of four novelties introduced into the Classical Guitars range for 2014. It comes with a standard classic acoustic body made of mahogany back and sides and spruce soundboard. Ibanez G207CWC is a seven-stringed classical guitar. It is a completely acoustic nylon-stringer with an extended range. Single-cut body is made of mahogany and spruce, while the broad neck is made of mahogany. 19-fret fingerboard on it`s top is made of rosewood. Ibanez G208CWC is based on the G207 model and these two feature almost identical specs. The biggest difference is the string count. G208 has eight strings, as opposed to G207`s seven strings. Ibanez GA35CE is a crossover nylon-stringer made for the players accustomed to the regular steel-stringed acoustics.
