Epiphone releases six models under the banner of new Black Royale Collection. Six of the most popular lines have given one model each to create this fantastic series.
Black clad and very elegant, models from the Black Royale series breathe with unique and classy vintage styling and tone. These guitars are made to take the player back through time when rock and roll was the main thing, when black shades and black tie were a common sight on the stage. Dressed to kill, Black Royale guitars also sound amazing and do not cost a fortune. Current lineup of the series consists of the following models: Les Paul Standard Black Royale, Wildkat Black Royale, ES-339 PRO Black Royale, Riviera Custom P-93 Black Royale, Dot Black Royale and Emperor Swingster Black Royale. Epiphone Les Paul Standard Black Royale opens up the series with a familiar single cut body made of solid mahogany. Neck is also mahogany-made and these two are connected through a glued-in joint, ensuring plenty of sustain and power. Alnico Classic active humbuckers are common feature throughout the Epiphone catalog and have also found their way to this Black Royale LP. Split volume and tone controls and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls unit. Rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and standard set of features is featured on every model of the series. Epiphone Wildkat Black Royale is also a single cutaway guitar, but it`s body is made of mahogany base and laminated maple top, as it is a semi-hollow bodied guitar. Neck is glued in and it`s made of mahogany, which is a series standard. 1960s slim taper contour is also a staple feature of Black Royale collection. Upon this neck a regular 22-fret rosewood fingerboard is installed. 12" radius, medium jumbo frets and 1-11/16" string nut are common to all models. Inlays differ from model to model and this one sports a set of dot markers. Bigsby vibrato, P-90 dog-ear pickups and Grover tuners complete the list of specs. Epiphone ES-339 PRO Black Royale is another semi-hollow guitar from Epiphone, but this time double cutaway construction is used instead of single. Much of the features is shared with Wildkat and the rest of the series, as well. Laminated maple comprises the entire body and it`s combined with a mahogany-made neck. Body is black and it`s equipped with silver sparkle binding. Also, a silver pickguard and a pair of "f" holes are featured on the top. Tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail bar comprise the bridge section. In front of them Epiphone installs Alnico Classic Pro active humbuckers with coil splitting ability. Mahogany neck is equipped with 1960s slim taper back contour and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Grover tuners with nickel plating complete the specs list. Epiphone Riviera Custom P-93 Black Royale is the fourth model from the Black Royale series and it comes with a double-cut body made entirely of laminated maple. Black color and silver decorations are mandatory for all models of the series, and therefore Riviera custom has silver binding and pickguard. Three P-90 pickups are the main feature of this model. Bridge pickup is marked with T (treble), middle one with R (reversed polarity) and in the neck Epiphone installs a regular neck position variant. All three have their own volume knobs and a master tone. Mahogany-made neck has standard set of features, as does the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Grover tuners, 24-3/4" scale, Bigsby vibrato bridge and nickel plating on the hardware wrap the specs. Epiphone Dot Black Royale is a model based upon the regular Dot model and shares a lot of features with it. Dot is one of the most successful and popular guitars with Epiphone logo on it and this Black Royale series variant comes with the entire double cutaway body made of laminated maple. Black paint and silver decorations along with carved "f" holes are placed around and on the top. Dot has a straight forward hardware configuration which consists of tune-o-matic/stoptail bar bridge combo, Alnico Classic active humbuckers with split controls and nickel-plated Grover tuners in three-a-side configuration. Neck is made of mahogany and it sports a 1960s slim taper contour with glued-in joint. 22-fret fingerboard is made of rosewood. Epiphone Emperor Swingster Black Royale is the sixth and final model from the series and it comes with a fully hollow single-cut body made of laminated flamed maple back and sides with spruce sound board on top. "f" holes and silver pickguard are featured on the top. Bigsby vibrato tailpiece is paired with a tune-o-matic bridge in the front. Swingbucker humbuckers are installed in pickups area. Separate volume and tone knobs and three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls unit. Volume knobs have push-pull switches built in. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it sports a 1960s slim taper back contour. Rosewood fingerboard has 22 medium-jumbo frets, pearloid block inlays, 1-11/16" string nut and 12" radius.
