Fender releases four signature acoustic and acoustic-electric models, two California Series models, one USA Kingman, one acoustic pack and one resonator model.
Fender had a busy time this few months preparing new lineup for 2012 and it`s NAMM Show. Here, before us are nine acoustic and acoustic-electric models ranging from rock bottom acoustic packs to signature acoustic-electrics, to resonators to acoustic-electric mandolin. USA Series presents Kingman USA Select. California brings Sonoran SCE Thinline and Redondo CE. Signature models are Alkaline Trio Malibu, Duane Peters Sonoran SCE '61, Robert Schmidt Electric Mandolin and Elvis Kingman. New resonator is FR-55 and the acoustic pack is FA-100 Acoustic Pack. This broad palette of novelties guarantees that there is something for everyone here.
Fender Kingman USA Select is a model from the USA Series, the first acoustic made in US after more than 20 years. It is a non-cutaway dreadnought model made of solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. This model, besides the solid body woods has premium features all over. Rosewood bridge is made with Viking shape and has a compensated saddle. Cream colored pickguard, gloss finish and checkerboard rosette complete the body. Maple neck has a V contour and rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets. This model is available only in three-color sunburst option. Fender Sonoran SCE Thinline is the first of two models to reinforce the California lines in 2012. It is a cutaway dreadnought model with natural color and gloss finish. It is made of solid spruce top, laminated mahogany back, laminated mahogany sides and maple neck. The bridge is made of rosewood and features a Viking shape and bone saddle. Electronics are made up of Fishman Isys III preamp system with active on-board pre-amp and tuner. Mpale neck is equipped with a rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets and 1,625" wide bone nut. Fender Redondo CE is the second new model from the California series of acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars. Models of this series bring affordable models in attractive package. Redondo CE is a cutaway dreadnought model available in natural gloss. The body is made of laminated spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides. Viking shaped rosewood bridge has a compensated saddle. It also has synthetic bone saddle. Fishman Isys III preamp with on-board tuner and control panel is in charge of the amplification. Maple neck has a C contour, Strat headstock and rosewood fingerboard. The fingerboard is equipped with 20 frets and 1.625" synthetic bone nut. Fender Alkaline Trio Malibu is the first of four signature acoustic models from the Artist Design Series. The model is made for Chicago based punk band Alkaline trio. It is a folk shaped acoustic with no cutaways. It has a body completely made of laminated mahogany, and natural gloss is the only color option available. Unique feature on this model is it`s heart-shaped rosette positioned just behind the fingerboard. There are no pickguards or electronics featured on this model. The neck is made of maple and has a Strat shaped headstock. Rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 20 frets and 1.625" wide synthetic bone saddle. Fender Duane Peters Sonoran SCE '61 is a model from artist design series of acoustics and acoustic-electric models. This guitar is a cutaway dreadnought model available in three-color sunburst gloss. The most prominent feature on this acoustic-electric six-stringer is it`s custom top graphic with a winged skull and crossed arrows with skull shaped tios. The graphic has a bleck-red stripe background. Rosewood made Viking bridge, maple neck, 20 fret rosewood fingerboard, Fishman Isys III preamp, laminated mahogany body and solid spruce top complete the spec. Next on the menu, there is Fender Robert Schmidt Electric Mandolin signature model with a special piezo pickup with standard electric guitar master volume knob and output jack. This Classic Series mandolin also features a double cutaway body made of solid maple back and sides and laminated spruce top. The bridge is also a special design ebony bridge with a trapezoid tailpiece. Fender Elvis Kingman is the fourth and final new signature model for 2012. This guitar revives the model Elvis played in 1967 movie Clambake and also the tradition of wildwood finishes on Fender acoustics back in the '60s. The Elvis Kingman features Presley`s signature on the Strat shaped headstock. The body is a non-cutaway and fully acoustic dreadnought with solid spruce top and laminated wildwood back and sides. Fender FR-55 is a new resonator model from fender`s Folk Instruments series. The body of this resonator has a non-cutaway dreadnought shape and is made of bell brass with nickel plating. It is polished to gloss and that is the only finish available. Blues and bluegrass musicians will find that this model has an ebony made bridge with a trapezoid tailpiece. The neck on this model is made of mahogany and features a rosewood fingerboard with 19 frets and dot inlays. The resonator cone is hand-spun and back and sides feature depictions of Hawaiian scenery. Fender FA-100 Acoustic Pack is the entry level option for young players or beginners. It comes with a padded Fender gig bag. The guitar starts off as a non cutaway dreadnought model made of laminated agathis body and laminated spruce top. This entry level model is available only in the natural gloss finish with a flat top. triple circle rosette and black pickguard wrap it up for the body.
