For the summer of 2012 Fender Custom Shop renews the Limited Edition series with five models, four guitars and one bass.
Fender Custom Shop is a special place where all of the iconic models which helped shape Fender history, as well as guitar history, come back to life. Quality of materials, quality of construction and unparalleled tone secure the very top positions for these magnificent creations. For summer 2012 Fender Custom Shop has prepared a five-model series with limited numbers of each model. This Limited Edition consists of four guitars and one bass. Guitars are: Limited Edition 1969 Relic Stratocaster, Limited Edition 1963 Heavy Relic Stratocaster, Limited Edition 1959 Heavy Relic Telecaster and Limited Edition Relic La Cabronita 2 Pickup Boracha Jazzmaster. The bass is Limited Edition Relic La Cabronita Boracho Bass.
Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition 1969 Relic Stratocaster opens the series and it is a replica of 1960s Strats with large headstock and hand-wound '69 single coil pickups. This model comes in Olympic White with nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Hand selected alder is used for the body and top quality maple for the neck. Vintage tremolo bridge and in-line set of six tuners are aged to resemble the wear and tear of over four decades of playing. 21 frets with black dots are featured on maple fingerboard. Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition 1963 Heavy Relic Stratocaster is the second of two Strat models in this series. It is a heavy relic, which means it sports worn and beaten looks with lots of wood showing through the paint. Aged and worn hardware is also present. This model looks as if it has been played for 40-50 years, but sounds as though it just came out of the factory and these are still 1960s. Classic shaped alder body, vintage tremolo bridge, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard make up the most important features of this model. Pickup department is equipped with a Seymour Duncan passive humbucker in the bridge position. The MSRP is set at $7,000. Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition 1959 Heavy Relic Telecaster is the only Telecaster in the gang and it celebrates the 1950s Telecaster models with it`s classic pickups set up, tray bridge, heavily worn paint and aged hardware. Body is made of alder and it is paired with maple neck. Fingerboard on this model is made of maple and it comes with a set of 21 medium jumbo frets, 9.50" radius, black dot inlays and 1.65" wide string nut. Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Relic La Cabronita Boracho Bass is the only bass in this series and it comes with a lightweight ash body paired with a bolted maple neck. This one sports a traditional black color with nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Aged hardware and worn paint are also featured on this four-stringer. This full-scaled bass is equipped with only one pickup, A custom TV Jones Thunderblade. Maple-made neck is topped with a maple fingerboard with 20 medium jumbo frets. also, the fingerboard is equipped with 7.25" radius, black dots and 1.50" wide string nut. The MSRP is set at $6,000. Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition Relic La Cabronita 2 Pickup Boracha Jazzmaster is the second Cabronita model in this series and it is an upgrade of the last year`s Cabronita which had only one pickup. This one comes with a pair of Powertron humbuckers. Master volume and three-way toggle switch comprise the simple, yet effective controls unit. Body is made of ash and it is paired with a maple neck. Bridge is a regular vintage styled hardtail. Worn paint and hardware give this model a special charm which only the original Cabronitas had. 21 frets with dot inlays are installed upon the maple fingerboard. The MSRP is set at $6,200.
