Fender introduces five novelties into the highly acclaimed Classical series. Four of them are regular models and one is a classical guitar pack for beginners.
Fender has a huge and versatile catalog, ranging from the absolute beginner`s instruments and packs to intermediate guitars, to exclusive American Deluxe and Custom Shop electrics. This time, the spotlights are all set on Fender`s updates of Classical series. This series offers a selection of affordable nylon-stringed guitars. They come in both completely acoustic and acoustic-electric variants. Also, top models from this series can be equipped with solid tonewoods construction. Five models introduced this time are: CN-90, CN-240SCE, CN-140S, FC-100 Classical Pack and CN-320AS. CN-90 is one of the introductory models and shows it`s best sides when used as the first nylon guitar. CN-140 and 240 form the intermediate level, while the CN-320 enters the stage as a serious all-solid nylon-stringer.
Fender CN-140S is an intermediate model from the Classical series and is the first of five models introduced into it this time. Fender has set the price for this model at $349.99. Body of this si-stringed classical is made of laminated rosewood back and sides, while the top is made of laminated spruce. It`s a nice combo for affordable guitars, as it has a sweet tone and good projection. Rosewood bridge is installed on the top. Fender CN-240SCE is the only acoustic-electric model out of five introduced this time. It sports the single-cut construction and standard Classical series styling. Laminated rosewood on the sides and back is combined with solid cedar top. Cedar top adds crisp and the fact that it`s solid adds strength to the tone. Isys III system is installed in the electronics department and it features a side-mounted preamp. Volume, three-band equalizer and mid sweep comprise the controls. Fender CN-90 is one of the opening models in the new Classical series lineup. It costs $299.99 and represents one of the best beginner`s options on the market. This non-cutaway nylon-stringer has all-laminated construction. It`s made of laminated mahogany back and sides with laminated spruce sound board. Spruce fits really fine along with mahogany body and nylon strings on CN-90. Neck is also made of mahogany and it`s topped with a 19-fret rosewood fingerboard. Fender FC-100 is a beginner`s pack, the only one introduced this time. Also, it is the only value pack in the active Classical series lineup. It comes with an FC-100 guitar and some of the essential accessories, including guitar strap, pickups, set of spare strings, tuner and gig bag. The guitar, itself is made of laminated mahogany back and sides and laminated spruce sound board on top. Rosewood bridge is featured on the top. Mahogany neck is attached to the body with a 12th fret dovetail joint and topped with a 18-fret rosewood fingerboard. Fender CN-320AS is the king of the hill in the Classical series. It features all solid construction, non-cutaway design and the hefty price tag. This model costs $899.99 and is by far the most expensive model in the current lineup. Rosewood is used ofr the back and sides, while the top is made of spruce. Top panel is decorated with several layers of binding and a classical rosette. Mahogany neck sports the standard back contour and a 19-fret ebony fingerboard.
