Three acoustic-electric guitars and one fully acoustic are being introduced into two basic lines of the Takamine G segment.
G10 is the basic line of the G segment of the Takamine catalog. It`s task, along with the G20 series, is to offer the beginners a range of quality acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars with the lowest possible price tags. Despite the recent introduction into the catalog, G10 and G20 are already among the most serious contenders in the beginner and lower intermediate classes. Generally, models of these series come with subtle and minimalistic design on one side and massive value for money and performance value on the other. New models introduced into G10 and G20 lines are: GN10, GN10CE, GN20CE and GD20CE.
Takamine GN10 is the first of four models reviewed in this article. It is a basic NEX-shaped steel-stringer with a mahogany/spruce body and mahogany neck. Only the belly-contoured bridge and the 20-fret fingerboard are made of rosewood. Die-cast tuners, 1-11/16” wide string nut and 25-1/2” scale complete the core specs list. Takamine GN10CE is the acoustic-electric sibling of the basic GN10 model. GN10CE also has a body made of laminated mahogany with laminated spruce top and a mahogany neck. Takamine`s TP-E preamp is mounted on the side of the body. 20-fret rosewood fingerboard, rosewood bridge and die-cast tuners are also featured on this one. Takamine GN20CE is one of two G20 series models and the third NEX-shaped guitar in this article. It is very similar to the basic GN10CE model, but there are few differences: white-bound cedar top and the TP-4T preamp instead of the TP-E model. Other than that, these two are almost identical. Takamine GD20CE is the only dreadnought introduced this time. It comes with a single-cut body made of mahogany back and sides and cedar top. Also, it features a mahogany neck and 20-fret fingerboard and belly-contoured bridge made of rosewood. TP-4T preamp and die-cast tuning machines complete the specs list.
