Gibson USA introduces brand new Thunderbird Studio Non-Reverse Bass with modern Thunderbird Bass set of pickups and full 34" scale for extra strong tone.
Gibson unveiled first Thunderbird in 1963 and it became an instant classic with it`s supremely cool looks and versatile, yet strong tone. In 1965 first "non-reversed" models surfaced, as Gibson felt that the original "reverse" contour was a bit too much ahead of it`s time. Thus, another legend was born, the non-reverse Thunderbird. These two concepts carried on their parallel existences to this very day. Today Gibson USA introduces new incarnation of Thunderbird Studio Non-Reverse Bass. It is a cool, modern four-stringer with fantastic tonal versatility. This is owed to the set of Thunderbird Bass pickups installed in both the bridge and neck positions. With the MSRP being set at $1,899, this Thunderbird offers outstanding quality for the money invested.
Gibson Thunderbird Studio Non-Reverse Bass comes with now classic non-reverse Thunderbird body made of mahogany. It is solid and features no top wood covers. As opposed to the majority of T-birds, this one features mortise & tenon joint, instead of neck-through design. Neck is also made of mahogany, thus creating rock solid foundation for the thunderous tone pickups installed on this model produce. The pickups are controlled with a master tone knob, which is accompanied by two volume knobs. Simple, spot-on accurate and vintage styled, control unit manipulates these pickups with ease. Bridge is a three-point Thunderbird with top load construction and black chrome plating. Rounded mahogany neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, 12" radius and 1.50" wide corian nut. Nitrocellulose finish, Grover tuners and 34" scale complete the specs list.
