This stellar hollow-bodied Emperor continues the Joe Pass series, adding even more versatility and quality to already hugely popular line.
Joe pass was one of the most skillful fingerboard virtuosos of his time and, also, one of the most modest ones. His off-the-chart precision, grace and speed of playing, combined with a formidable knowledge of jazz and blues theory made him into one of the greatest guitar authorities out there. More than twenty years after his death, his Emperor series still lives and shines as one of the brightest stars in the Epiphone constellation. The current model, named Joe Pass Emperor II PRO is the best model so far to grace the ranks of this distinguished series. Some of the key features of the regular Emperor II (introduced several years ago) have been improved and updated on the PRO model. This way Epiphone displays the genuine care for their jazz and blues players who know how to appreciate a well-made jazz box.
Epiphone Joe Pass Emperor II PRO comes with a fully hollow body made of laminated maple and spruce. Maple is, of course, used for the back and sides, as is the most common case with the high quality jazz boxes. Hand selected spruce panels are used for the bound and arched sound board. The top is fit with a pair of classic “f” holes and vintage bridge section (wooden bridge and a trapezoid tailpiece). Pickups are Epiphone`s own ProBuckers (#3 in the bridge and #2 in the neck position). These two can be split into single-coils through the push/pull switches mounted onto the volume knobs. 3-piece maple neck is fit with a standard glued-in joint, and is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard.
