Fender introduces new Starcaster and Kingman guitars and basses.

New Starcaster and Kingman Models

Two semi-hollow Starcaster series guitars and two semi-hollow basses are being unveiled. Also, the Vince Ray Kingman C hits the stage.

Fender has always been known for their solid-bodied guitars and basses and these instruments have always been the most popular Fender products. But, back in the 1960s and 1970s, Fender tried to conquer the market of the hollow and semi-hollow guitars and basses with Starcaster and Coronado models. Today, after more than 30 years after their withdrawal, Fender revives them within the new Starcaster series. There are two six-striongers: Starcaster Guitar and Coronado Guitar. Also, there are two four-stringed basses: Starcaster Bass and Coronado Bass. The fifth model reviewed in this article is the Vince Ray "Boneshaker" Kingman C model. All five of these models feature the vintage styling and modern construction.

Fender Starcaster Coronado Guitar is a semi-hollow six-stringer with laminated maple body and bolted maple neck. Center block is made of alder. Vintage-styled bridge section is a two-piece and it`s fronted with a pair of Fideli`Tron humbucker pickups. Two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls Neck is fit with a standard C contour and is topped with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard. Fender Starcaster Coronado Guitar

Fender Starcaster Guitar is the second of two semi-hollow six-stringers reviewed in this article. It features an offset body made of laminated maple and alder. Back, sides and top are made of maple, while the center block is made of alder. Two-piece bridge is made up of the pinned Adjust-o-Matic bridge and a stoptail bar. Two active humbuckers are in the front. Bolted maple neck has the standard C contour in the back and a 22-fret maple fingerboard on the top. Fender Starcaster Coronado Bass is based on the aforementioned Coronado six-stringer. It comes with a laminated maple body, 30" scale and Fideli`Tron pickups. Only the center block of the body is made of alder. Vintage--styled two-piece bridge is installed on the top and is fronted with a pair of vintage humbuckers. Series standard controls unit is featured with them. maple neck is fit with a C contour and is topped with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard. Fender Coronado Bass

Fender Starcaster Bass is a close sibling to the Starcaster Guitar and is based on it`s specs. The biggest differences are the scale length (Starcaster Bass comes with a 30" scale) and string count (Starcaster Bass has four). Fender Vince Ray "Boneshaker" Kingman C is the only acoustic guitar reviewed in this article. It has a non-cutaway dreadnought body made of solid mahogany back and sides and solid spruce top. Rosewood bridge features the bone saddle and Viking contour. Neck is the only major part made of maple on this model. On it`s top, there`s a standard 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Vince Ray`s custom painted graphic is the only color scheme for this limited edition Kingman.
