Nine new signature models are hitting the scene at PRS Guitars this year. Artists from all over the rock scene are joining the lines of PRS Signature family.
2012, as every year before it, is opened officially with winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, Ca. All brands make sure they bring everything they prepared for their new catalogs. PRS is no exception as they brought a staggering number of nine new signature models. These models feature finest materials and hardware PRS has to offer, it`s a firework of top notch craftsmanship and supreme tones. The models unveiled are: SE Signature Limited, SE Paul Allender, SE Fredrik Akesson, SE Bernie Marsden, Chris Henderson Signature 2012, SE Orianthi, SE Dave Navarro Signature, SE Nick Catanese 2012 and Neal Schon LTD.
PRS SE Signature Limited was first introduced in 2011 as a 100 guitars limited run by Private Stock of PRS. The model became so popular and sought after, that 2012 sees it`s continuation and expansion for 400 additional copies. This model comes with a unique combo of two different sized PRS humbuckers with unbelievable tonal range and versatility. Besides the regular controls setup, there are also two mini switches. Mahogany body and figured maple top are combined with mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets. PRS Se Paul Allender is a 2012 addition to the catalog of signature models. It is made for Cradle Of Filth`s lead guitarist, Paul Allender. with this model PRS goes extreme metal. Mahogany body and flamed maple veneer are combined with a wide thin maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. 24 jumbo frets have bats instead of birds as the inlays, and the guitar is offered only in purple burst color with gloss finish. Next in line is PRS SE Fredrik Akesson signature model. This beautiful single cutaway guitar is the main weapon of Opeth`s six string virtuoso and a real little heartbreaker. PRS Treble and Bass humbuckers give plenty of power for even the most demanding players out there. Mahogany back and quilted maple top make the body and mahogany neck only reinforces the foundations for incredibly strong and firm tone. 22 frets and stoptail bar bridge wrap it up. PRS SE Bernie Marsden signature model brings a bit of vintage flavor to the scene with it`s classic single cutaway design and a classic setup of two humbuckers. Former Whitesnake guitarist is in no way new to PRS, and finally, for 2012 he gets a long deserved signature model. Mahogany body and flame maple top are combined with a mahogany neck and a 24-1/2" scale. The rosewood fingerboard has 22 frets and bird inlays. PRS Chris Henderson Signature 2012 is the second signature model for Chris. The first one, introduced a few years ago had three humbuckers, instead of the which are featured on the 2012 version. This carved top model features a single cutaway shaped body made of mahogany with figured maple veneer. Standard dual humbucker combo is controlled through an LP standard controls layout of split volume and tone knobs with a three-way toggle switch at the upper bout. 22 frets, 25: scale, PRS stoptail bar bridge and PRS tuners wrap it up for this model. PRS SE Orianthi is a rare sight indeed. It brings a breath of fresh air as it is one of very few signature models done for a female guitar player. This tremolo equipped double cutaway guitar has a body made of korina back and flamed maple veneer top. PRS tuners and pickups make sure everything works fine and that the guitar never runs out of breath. Hardware is nickel plated and scale measures at 25" of length. One of the biggest reinforcements of signature lines for 2012 comes in shape of brilliant PRS SE Dave Navarro Signature model. It comes with a mahogany body with maple top and maple neck. This 24 fret guitar has a PRS Tremolo bridge with golden plating. Pickups are PRS SE HFS Treble and SE Vintage Bass humbuckers. Wide thin neck contour and 25" scale make this a very playable guitar.
