With the new year comes the new special edition line of Schecters. It consists of two Ultras, one Hellraiser, one PT and one Synyster Gates model.
Back for 2012, Schecter`s line of Special Edition models got five novelties in it`s roster. As always, models featured in the Special Edition line feature special cosmetic alterations, whether it is the enhanced hardware, some non-standard color option or custom graphic. Other than that, these models are basically the same as models they are made from. This time, Ultra series has two special models, Special Edition Ultra III and Special Edition Ultra B-17. Hellraiser has got a 30" scaled monster in shape of Hellraiser C VI. PT Series is represented by Special Edition PT F-4. And, finally, Synyster Gates series got Special Edition Synyster Custom with purple and green color pattern instead of black and silver.
Schecter Special Edition Ultra III is a model from the Ultra series, specifically, the Ultra III model with three humbuckers. Special Edition treatment on this model includes gold plated hardware. Other than that, Special Edition Ultra III is the same as it`s base model. Mahogany body has a raised center and is paired with a three-piece mahogany neck. The bridge option still includes a roller tune-o-matic bridge with a Bigsby B-50 Vibrato tailpiece. Duncan Designed FG-101 pickups sit in the bridge, middle and neck positions. 22 extra jumbo frets and pearl block inlays adorn the rosewood fingerboard. Schecter Special Edition Ultra B-17 is based on the regular Ultra series. What sets this model apart is it`s custom top graphic dedicated to the Boeing B-17 bomber from the WWII. With the exception of the custom graphic, this is a normal Ultra guitar, and it kicks off with a solid mahogany body in pair with three-piece mahogany neck, a combination which guarantees bucket loads of sustain and warm tone. These core specs are complemented with tune-o-matic bridge, stoptail tailpiece, Seymour Duncan Blackout humbuckers and rosewood fingerboard with 22 extra jumbo frets. Schecter Special Edition PT F-4 has a custom graphic dedicated to the F-4 Phantom, a legend among the fighter jets. This graphic is complemented with fantastic stars and bars fingerboard inlays and a special USAF inlay at the 12th fret. The headstock also features the continuation of the body graphic. In technical department, this model is basically a PT with mahogany made body, bolted maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and Schecter SuperRock Custom pickups. Other than that, the bridge is a lean combo of Tele "tray" bridge and Strat`s hardtail with string-through-body construction. Schecter Special Edition Synyster Custom is equipped with joker purple base color and metallic green pinstripes in place of black base with silver stripes. All of the other features suit the Custom category of the Synyster gates signature series models. Mahogany body, three-piece mahogany neck, ultra access, ebony fingerboard with 24 extra jumbo frets, Seymour Duncan passive Invader pickups and a Floyd Rose 1000 series bridge make up the specs for both this model and standard custom. Schecter Special Edition Hellraiser C VI has a 30" scale, which could be measured with short-scale bass guitars. This enables the tuning to go an entire octave down with a standard set of six strings. There are no cosmetic changes on this model. Standard mahogany body with a double cutaway, carved top and abalone binding is paired with a three-piece mahogany made neck with a set-in joint and an ultra access. Active EMG 81/89 combo gives enough power for even the most extreme of the metal subgenres. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and features standard 24 extra jumbo frets.
