Squier Guitars unveil five new artist series signature models for 2012. Jim Root, Avril Lavigne, Simon Neil, Joe Trohman and Mikey Way got new signatures.
Squier, as subsidiary of Fender is in charge of production of models which compete in the lower portions of the market. Even though they cost less, they have to give genuine Fender quality of craftsmanship and tone. Along with Fender`s Artist line, Squier also has a very successful signature models series. For 2012, Squier unveiled five new Artist models, four electric guitars and one electric bass. The models are: Jim Root Telecaster, Avril Lavigne Skull & Crossbones Telecaster, Simon Neil Stratocaster, Joe Trohman Telecaster and Mikey Way Mustang Bass. All of these models were introduced at the NAMM Show this January.
Squier Jim Root Telecaster is a modern guitar with simple controls and powerful tone. Mahogany body is paired with maple neck through a bolt-on joint and features flat top with no binding around it. Passive humbuckers are found in both the bridge and neck positions, and are controlled through master volume knob and three-position blade switch. Add black hardware, 25-1/2" scale and 22 jumbo sized frets, and you`ve got the full specs. The MSRP is set at $599.99. Squier Avril Lavigne Skull & Crossbones Telecaster is the second signature model for this young artist. Also, it is her second Squier signature. Black gloss color is complemented with black hardware and skull & crossbones inlay at the 12th fret. Materials used for this Tele are: basswood for body, maple for neck and rosewood for fingerboard. Passive humbucker in the bridge position, hardtail bridge and 22 frets complete the list. The MSRP is set at $479.99. Squier Simon Neil Stratocaster is the only Strat update for this year`s edition of Artist Series from Squier. It is characterized by aged plastics and classic Stratocaster appointments. Alder body/maple neck combination works like a charm in conjunction with custom vintage style single coil Strt pickups. The pickups have Alnico V magnet pole pieces on the bass side and Alnico III magnet pole pieces on the treble side. 21 medium jumbo frets, vintage style synchronized tremolo and dot inlays complete the specs. Squier Joe Trohman Telecaster is a modern take on the classic Tele story, as it incorporates a lot of features non-characteristic to Tele family of models. Hardtail bridge, H/S/H pickup configyration, rotary pickup switch and Stratocaster headstock are only some of the appointments which make this Tele stand ou from all others. The body is made of alder and combined with a standard maple neck with C contour, bolted joint, rosewood fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets. The MSRP for this model is set at $599.99. Fifth and final update comes in Mustang Bass shape, it is a 30"-scaled Mikey Way Mustang Bass. It has a basswood body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard as it`s basis. One passive humbucker placed in the middle position drives the sound of this bass. This humbucker is controlled through master volume and tone controls. 19 fret fingerboard features white dot inlays and 1.50" wide string nut. The MSRP for Mikey Way Mustang is set at $499.99.
