Squier present their new Vintage modified Jazz Bass V combining all the traditional qualities of a Jazz Bass in a five string package.
The Jazz Bass has the reputation of almost mythical proportions among the bass players, fans and musicians in general across the world. With it`s bright sound, magnifficent tonal qualities and unmatched craftsmanship it helped shape what we now know as popular music ever since it`s birth in 1960. Jazz Bass is still one of the most important instruments in the music industry.
Squier refreshed their mid 1970s-styled Vintage modified Jazz Bass and gave it the fifth string, and it hit the bulls-eye, for now it`s even more appealing and handsome bass. The Squier Vintage modified Jazz Bass V comes in natural finish. On top of it`s undeniably good looks, this bass offers great sound qualities and supreme performance.
The body of the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass V is made of soft maple and joined with a bolt-on neck. On top of it, there is standard five-saddle fixed bass bridge. Pickup configuration is a classical one for Jazz Bass, dual Duncan Designed single-coil Jazz Bass pickups. Controls include separate volume knobs for each pickup and a master tone knob. C-shaped, one piece maple neck features maple fingerboard with black binding, 20 medium jumbo frets and black pearl block inlays. Vintage headstock features five standard open-geared vintage-styled tuners.
Other features include: Polyurethane finish, 9.5" fingerboard radius, chrome hardware, three-ply black/white/black pickguard, 34" scale, 1875" nut width, chrome dome knurled control knobs, four-over, one-under tuning machine array, bar style retainer and synthetic bone nut.
Jazz Bass is intended for the bass players who want to have a more forward position in the band`s mix, as opposed to Precision Bass, which has lower, bassier sound. Jazz bass is also, for the same tonal characteristics, suited for more adventurous bass players who like to step beyond the twelfth fret and usual bass lines.
