Seven new models grace the current ST series lineup. Some of them have the swamp ash base, while the majority sticks to the classic alder/maple combo.
Mission of the ST series in LTD Distressed side of the catalog is to offer the potential players an awesome ESP/LTD rendition of what a modern-vintage Strat-like guitar should look, feel and play like. There are hundreds, if not thousands of similar series and models in the intermediate range of the market, especially here on the US market, but there`s something about the mesmerizing ST series which can not be found pretty much nowhere else and that`s the authentic ESP quality of build and meticulous attention to detail and constant progress. 2014 lineup of this amazing series is made up of seven models: ST-213 Ash Maple, ST-213 Ash Rosewood, ST-213FR Ash Maple, ST-203 Rosewood, ST-213 Maple, ST-213 Rosewood and ST-213 Rosewood L/H.
LTD ST-213 Ash Maple opens up the review section of this article. It is a solid and double-cut Strat guitar with a swamp ash body and bolt-on maple neck. ESP-designed LS-120 single-coil pickups have the standard controls unit and are accompanied by a synchronized trem bridge. Maple neck is covered with a 22-fret maple fingerboard. LTD ST-213 Ash Rosewood is the second of three swamp ash models in the current lineup. It comes with a medium thick body and super thin neck (swamp ash body/maple neck). Compulsory ESP Designed LS-120 single coil pickups are there, as well. 22-fret rosewood fingerboard replaces the maple one. LTD ST-213FR Maple is the only model with the Floyd Rose bridge featured in the current lineup. LTD ST-203 Rosewood is the only 203 model left in the lineup. It rocks the rugged aged and distressed looks with style and charm. Solid alder body is offered in aged 3-Tone Burst and is complemented with aged hardware. Passive electronics, bolted maple neck and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard are also there. LTD ST-213 Maple comes with a solid and double-cut alder body and super thin maple neck (standard bolt-on neck joint is used). Classic Strat pickguard, string-through tremolo bridge and LH-150/LS-120 pickups are used. Black variant is the only one that utilizes the LH-150 humbucker in the bridge position. LTD ST-213 Rosewood is essentially the same as the 213 Maple model, but with two notable differences. 22-fret maple fingerboard is replaced with a 22-fret rosewood one and all variants are equipped with a set of three ESP Designed LS-120 single coil pickups.
