Classic LTD EC-1 gets a full Traveler Guitar treatment or Traveler Custom gets a full LTD EC-1 treatment. Anyway you put it, the new EC-1 is a serious semi-pro battle axe.
Overview:
Rejoice, all ye roaming metalheads out there! Finally, Traveler Guitar has produced a thoroughbred metal guitar for all of you wanderers under the steel sky. One might wonder where does the sharp edge of this mighty axe come from, and the answer is found in three letters which have dominated the realm of affordable metal guitas for years – L, T and D. Yes, LTD and Traveler have joined forces to produce the most unlikely hero of the season, the mighty LTD EC-1. This time the dark horse on the outside is clad in white and adorned with both Traveler and LTD logos on top. For now, this marvel is only available for pre-order on Traveler Guitar site. Waiting period of around three to four weeks. It might seem a bit too long, but the it`s worth the wait, we promise. Without the further ado, let`s dig in and see what this six-string warrior is made of.
Body & Neck:
Power, warm tone and a strong low end is what every metal player needs and this LTD/Traveler beast delivers in abundance as both the EC-shaped body and bolt-on neck are made of mahogany. The body is solid and single-cut with trademark Traveler tuner holes. Neck on the other side features a 22-fret ebonized rosewood fingerboard with LTD Flag inlays.
Electronics & Tone:
ESP Designed ALH-200B is one of the most prominent bridge pickup options in LTD`s catalog and is a tested and proven workhorse metal pickup. Fierce delivery, above average clarity and tight lows are its trademark features. It is matched with a classic Traveler headphone amp with clean, boost, overdrive and distortion channels (accessible via push/pull knob). Headphones and AUX jacks are also featured.
Special Features:
Special features include a small-sized and lightweight padded gig bag.
Price:
$599, which is, let`s be honest, a bargain.
Final Verdict:
LTD EC-1 is a proper metal axe for seasoned road warriors and beginners, alike. It does lack a bit of refinement and pizzazz of its professional counterparts, but it will never leave you stranded. Definitely worth every dollar invested.
