Plenty of new models and updates are coming from Warwick this year. Among them are one FSC certified Corvette and Bootsy Collins Spacebass.
Warwick celebrates 30 years in the business this year and their NAMM booth was among the most visited ones. FSC Certified Corvette Standard, Thumb Singlecut with six strings, Limited Edition 30th Anniversary Streamer, Jimmy Earl Signature, Jack Bruce Signature, Rob Trujillo Signature and Bootsy Collins Custom Shop Spaceass are the names of this year`s novelties. Germany based factory brought the Corvette, Thumb, Streamer, Jack Bruce and Jimmy Earl models. Korean models are Jack Bruce and Robert Trujillo signatures, while the custom shop brought Bootsy Collins Spacebass.
Warwick Corvette Standard FSC Certified comes with a US swamp ash body in combination with wenge neck. All models feature wenge fingerboards with 24 frets, except the fretless models, which have tigerstripe ebony fingerboards. Active EMG single coil pickups are backed up by active MEC electronics. This Corvette comes in following variants: FSC Certified 4, FSC Certified 4 Left Handed, FSC Certified 4 Fretless, FSC Certified 5, FSC Certified 5 Left Handed and FSC Certified 5 Fretless. Warwick Streamer LTD 2012 30th Anniversary is available only as a four-stringed right-handed fretted bass. It`s body is made of 25 year old cherry wood and combined with through-body wenge/cherry neck. 24 fret wenge fingerboard features dot position inlays and brass nut. Pickup combo is laid out in J/P pattern and features active EMGs. Two-band MEC electronics complete the specs. Six String Thumb SC Broadneck comes in three variants, Thumb SC 6 Broadneck, Thumb SC 6 Broadneck Left Handed and Thumb SC 6 Broadneck Fretless. Thumb is a true juggernaut, both with it`s immense size and tone. Swamp ash body and bubinga pommele top are matched with flamed maple neck and tigerstripe ebony fingerboard. Neck-through construction, 26 frets and passive MEC humbuckers promise earth shaking performance. 34" scale, active MEC electronics and Warwick hardware complete the specs. Warwick Jimmy Earl Signature Bass comes only as a right handed, fretted five-stringer. It`s striking contrast between the natural finish of the swamp ash body and red pickguard makes it one of the most recognizable basses in the world. The neck is made of maple with maple fingerboard on top of it. 24 fret s feature yin yang inlays. Active EMG pickups are laid out in J/J pattern and supported by MEC Blackbox electronics. Jack Bruce Survivor Bass comes in two variants: fretted four stringer and fretless four stringer. It is a solid bodied, double cutaway bass made of mahogany body and neck with through-body construction. Warwick makes the two-part bridge, tuners and brass string nut, while MEC supplies pickups and electronics. Tigerstripe ebony fingerboard has a standard number of 24 frets with no inlays. Robert Trujillo Korean-made Artist Series basses are updated for 2012 and come in 4 String Ocean Blue and 5 string Ocean Blue versions. Double cutaway maple body is covered with quilted maple top and paired with maple neck. The neck runs through the body. Fingerboard is made of tigerstripe ebony and features 24 frets with a custom RT inlay at the 12th fret. Hardware is made by Warwick and pickups come from EMG. Jack Bruce Bass also comes in Korean-made version. Variants available include: Jack Bruce 4 and Jack Bruce 4 Fretless. Basic specs are the same as for German-made models. Solid, double cutaway Mahogany body and mahogany neck are connected via the neck-through joint. Tigerstripe ebony fingerboard is equipped with 24 frets and has no inlays. Warwick bridge and tuners are accompanied by passive MEC pickups and active MEC electronics. And now, the best for the last, Warwick Custom Shop unveiled Bootsy Collins Spacebass. This funky beast looks like nothing ever made before. Star-shaped body, five pickups and star shaped headstock are sure to leave no heads unturned and no man indifferent. But, behind all it`s flash and glitter, this is one mean machine. Swamp ash body is paired with maple neck via the neck-through construction. Five EMG J-style pickups each have on/off switch and are accompanied by special setup of MRC electronics. 24 fretted fingerboard has red star inlays.
