New Zakk Wylde Moderne of Doom is hitting the stage this November and it brings the clash of classic Gibson and metal mayhem.
Gibson is among the brands with greatest traditions and one very important part of that tradition is being on the forefront and leading the industry into new eras. Back in 1957, Gibson`s designers and luthiers saw a new age coming and created a three model series named Modernist. It had the first Explorer, first Flying V and the first Moderne. All three models failed and were quickly dismissed. Some 10-20 years after, Explorer and Flying V made a big comeback, arriving with the dawn of heavy metal music. Moderne, on the other side, remained dormant. Today, Moderne is getting it`s long deserved chance with Gibson USA Zakk Wylde Moderne of Doom. This interesting single-cut features a rare combination of vintage and modern, defying and twisting all conventions. It is elegant, yet raw and aggressive. It is strikingly beautiful and yet it can roar like a beast. Gibson has scheduled it`s release for this November and it`s MSRP will be set at $2,082.
Gibson USA Zakk Wylde Moderne of Doom is a solid and double-cut guitar with the classic Moderne contour. It combines the front side of the Explorer and the back side of the Flying V. Compared to both, Moderne has softer lines and edges. Classic Gibson construction includes a solid mahogany body with maple top. Top is flat and features black hardware over the Black & White Pinstripe graphic. Hardware features on the top include a black six-saddled Floyd Rose tremolo bridge, two EMG pickups (81 in te bridge and 85 in the neck, Zakk`s signature humbuckers with black matte covers) and a standard set of controls (two tones, one volume and a three-way toggle pickup switch). Maple neck is set in and it`s equipped with a custom Zakk Wylde contour. Richlite fingerboard has 22 frets, block inlays and 12" radius.
