Alvarez is one of the biggest "small" brands of steel and nylon-string guitars. Founded in the 1950s by St. Louis Music, Alvarez catered to the lower portions of the market. Today, the brand has a strong presence in beginner, lower intermediate, and intermediate classes, with the most expensive models made in Kani City, Japan. The Artist series deals with lower intermediate/intermediate models, offering solid top construction and l.R. Baggs electronics. AD70W is one of many dreadnoughts featured on the Artist series` roster. It offers walnut back & sides, solid A+ grade Sitka spruce top, 14th fret dovetail joint, and stock hardware. Natural Gloss is the only color option available. Other notable features include a solid mahogany neck, 20-fret rosewood/pau ferro fingerboard, fixed rosewood/pau ferro bridge, and die-cast tuners.
