Masterworks series is at the top of the standard steel-string section of the Alvarez catalog. The only series positioned above it is the Alvarez Yairi series; its models are hand-made in Japan (in late master luthier Kazuo Yairi`s own guitar shop). The current Masterworks series contains only two tiers - 66 (all-mahogany bodies, mahogany/rosewood necks) and 70 (rosewood/spruce bodies, mahogany/rosewood necks). MGA66E is, needless to point out, a tier 66 model. It comes in with an all-solid body, a one-piece neck (rounded profile, 25-1/2" scale, 14th fret joint), 21-fret rosewood fingerboard (1-3/4" bone nut, 12th fret inlay), gold-plated hardware, LR Baggs electronics (SagePro EQ, Element piezo pickup), rosewood-made bridge (Alvarez contour), and forward-shifted (scalloped X) bracing.
