To celebrate the 40th anniversary, ESP has introduced many new models and series at 2015 NAMM and Tombstone series of acoustic-electric guitars was one of the new series. This new range of acoustics is placed under the LTD umbrella and deals with intermediate and upper intermediate class models. D-430E is one of two dreadnought models in the lineup (the other one is D-320E), as well as one of three 430 tier models (other two are J-430E and A-430E). Rosewood, spruce and mahogany are combined with Fishman electronics and LTD hardware and the end result is quite impressive - an upper intermediate class dreadnought with single-cut construction, fantastic tone and great playability. Rosewood back and sides give this model a deep, warm tone with solid Sitka spruce sound board adding clarity and definition to the equation. Rosewood bridge is equipped with the tier-standard Nubone saddle and Fishman Sonicore pickup beneath it. Preamp is Fishman Isys+ with on-board tuner and volume/tone controls. Mahogany neck features the standard U profile and the mandatory 14th fret dovetail joint. Rosewood fingerboard is bound in creme binding and sports a regular set of 20 jumbo-sized frets with diamond inlays. LTD tuners on the headstock are installed in a classic 3+3 arrangement and are plated in gold.
