AE series has made its debut at this year`s NAMM show. It brings a pair of single-cut acoustic-electrics, positioned in the upper middle class. At first glance, these two (both the AE900 and AE800) might seem as regular fully acoustic guitars. Until you turn them around and see the endpin jack. The confusion begins with the lack of a conventional preamp or sound-hole mounted controls. Instead, Ibanez packs external preamps with these guitars, possibly changing the game in acoustic-electric field for good. AE800 is a single-cut guitar with a standard scale, 14th fret neck joint, under-saddle pickup and chrome-plated Gotoh hardware.
AE800`s chassis is a fairly simple one, it is comprised of mahogany, rosewood and spruce. Back and sides of the body, as well as the neck are made of solid mahogany, fingerboard and bridge are made of rosewood, while the soundboard is made of solid spruce. Fingerboard features 20 frets, dot inlays, 1.73" nut and 16.90" radius.
Custom designed preamp features five-band EQ, notch filter, notch frequency, phase reverse and volume controls. Chrome-plated Gotoh tuners and fixed rosewood bridge provide excellent tuning stability and complete the list of major features.
