AEW series is all about the exotic tonewoods and modern Ibanez construction. As the series is decidedly acoustic-electric, it`s guitars feature shallower bodies to better accommodate the combined Ibanez/Fishman electronics. The latest model in the series lineup is the super sleek AEW14LTD4. It is a single-cut guitar with Florentine cutaway, slim body contour and modern construction. Back and sides of the body are made of acacia, while the top is made of the standard Sitka spruce (solid spruce is used on this steel-string). Top is bound in several layers of wooden binding and has a wooden rosette in shape of a crescent moon. Beneath the top, the standard X bracing is applied. Also, the fixed rosewood bridge conceals a Fishman Sonicore pickup beneath the bone saddle. It`s combined with a side-mounted preamp with volume and tone controls and a preamp. Neck is made of mahogany, which blends superbly with the spruce/acacia body (acacia, a.k.a. Australian Blackwood is a tonewood very similar to koa, both aesthetic and tone-wise, but much more affordable and accessible) and gives a unique tone to this limited edition steel-stringer. Neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard and features a classic headstock with 3+3 gold-plated tuners with black buttons.
