Grand performance body shape was introduced back in 2010 as an attempt to refresh the catalog and offer something between OM and dreadnought. Seven years later and GP models are present in all of the core series of the catalog.
The new GPC-16E is, actually, the first GP model with cutaway. It belongs to the 16 series and costs (compared to the rest of the Martin catalog) affordable $2,999. Main construction features of this single-cut steel-stringer include koa back & sides (gloss finish, silver binding), solid Sitka spruce top (silver finish, black pickugard, triple circle rosette), select hardwood neck (modified low oval profile), and 20-fret ebony fingerboard (25.4" scale, dot inlays, 1.75" bone nut).
Fishman matrix VT Enhance NT2 electronics, ebony bridge, and open-geared tuners complete the first GP cutaway model.
