1627VL-4 is a true Vintage Lyrachord model with a shallow, non-cutaway bowl. The bowl itself, made of composite materials, is nicely rounded, and projects maximum tone from the body. Another special feature of this Lyrachord is the Stereo FET preamp system. But, to begin with, this non-cutaway model has a solid spruce top with a singular, round sound hole. Also, there are multiple layers of binding around the top, with natural satin being the only color option available for this model. The bridge section sports a walnut bridge with a standard belly shape and white saddle. Amplification department, besides the bowl design, is what sets this guitar apart from the crowd. Ovation OCP-1K under-saddle pickup is combined with Stereo FET preamp which is a modern rendition of the preamp that launched Adamas models into stratosphere back in the '70s. Controls are simple and consist of master volume and master tone knobs positioned on the side of the guitar. The neck is made of five pieces of mahogany and maple and meets the body at the 14th fret. Rosewood fingerboard sports 20 frets with dot and diamond position inlays. 25-1/4" scale, chrome plated Ovation tuners and scalloped X bracing wrap the specs for 1627VL-4.

I just purchased my new 1627VL-4. This is a great classical style guitar with an Ovation flavor. The neck feels like a standard classical guitar should and I really like the fact that it is very easy (within a couple of minutes) to set the action for ease of playing (shims & truss rod)! I am very pleased with the tone acoustically and even more impressed when it is plugged in! This is an excellent guitar for the price! Quality workmanship - Great tone - Incredibly easy to set up just the way you like it - Fun and easy to play! Ovation did a great job on bringing back this guitar!
