Woodcraft series has a pretty simple approach to construction and design, and over a century of Washburn`s experience of acoustic guitar production behind it. Woodcraft models are simple, beautiful and offer a magnificent tone. One of the specific features of this line is the use of maple fingerboards (while the electrics with maple fingerboards are a quite common sight, acoustics come with rosewood, ebony, and even fingerboards made of synthetic materials) in equal proportion to the ones made of rosewood. Upscale models of this series (though the series itself is located at the intermediate tier) come with backs and sides made of exotic tonewoods, like the WCSD50s which has koa back and sides. Sound board on the top is, of course, made of solid Sitka spruce. Quarter-sawn bracing under the top, size and the construction of the non-cutaway dreadnought body, as well as the super thin satin finish, guarantee a strong, potent and vibrant tone. Neck on WCSD50S is, like on the rest of the Woodcraft dreads, made of mahogany. It`s attached through a 14th fret dovetail joint, and equipped with a two-way truss rod. Fingerboard on its top is made of maple, and fit with a set of 20 frets with black dot inlays. 1.69" wide bone nut, 25-1/2" scale and high quality die-cast tuners wrap up the major specs list.
