A4K is a novelty form Yamaha and it belongs to the world-wide famous A series of acoustic-electric guitars. It was introduced at NAMM 2013, together with another A series model. Both of them are in every respect standard A series guitars, with the exception of the body tone wood selection. Instead of mahogany, rosewood, maple or some other standard tone wood, Yamaha opted to go with exclusive solid koa. Back, sides and the top are made of luxurious solid Hawaiian koa. A4K is decorated with few, well chosen appointments, such as multi-ply binding, tortoise shell pickguard and abalone rosette. It is available only in natural color with high gloss finish over it. Bridge on this model is made of ebony and it features standard Yamaha contour. Electronics department is equipped with System 63 SRT. Control panel is installed onto the side of the body. Neck is made of mahogany. It sports a standard dovetail joint and it`s topped with a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. Fingerboard material matches the bridge, as it is one of the most traditional options for steel-stringed acoustics. Die-cast tuning machines and 25-3/5" long scale complete the specs list.

Its truly a beautiful guitar. Very high craftsmanship. Excellent playability. Remarkable value for the money. My only beef is with 2 of the ebony tuner buttons which seem to come loose once and awhile and require tightening of the screw. I removed the machines and replaced them with an after-market set of high-end Gotoh Deltas. I aint looking back. For the amount this cost I could have gotten a plastic martin instead of perfectly matched all solid Koa, a beautiful tone-wood I might add. Lovin it.
I wanted an all KOA guitar. I looked at the Taylor 224 with laminated back and sides, but decided to give the Yamaha A4K a try. I'm glad I did. I played both and bought the Yamaha because it just plain sounds better than the Taylor. I am not one of those guys that hate Taylor's. I have a Taylor 810 that I would not get rid of. I'm not to finniky about whose name is on the headstock. I go for sound first and then quality. The Yamaha has both. Great guitar.
