In fender catalog, there is even one acoustic-electric mandolin, the Robert Schmidt Electric Mandolin model. The Robert Schmidt electric Mandolin comes with a double cutaway acoustic body made of solid maple back sides and back and solid spruce top. This model is available in walnut stain color with gloss finish. The flat top is adorned with white binding, tho "f" holes and a tortoise shell red pickguard. The bridge is made of ebony with an ornamental trapezoid tailpiece made of metal. The electronics on this mandolin are comprised of a special under-saddle piezo with a standard volume knob. The neck on this model is made of mahogany and features a U contour. It also features a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets and dot position inlays. Synthetic bone string nut is 1,12" wide and the scale is 13-7/10" long. This is a new model for 2012 and was featured at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, Ca. The MSRP for Robert Schmidt Electric mandolin is set at $649.99.
