D-45 V is a model from the Vintage series made by Martin Guitars. This series pays a tribute to the golden age of acoustics with it`s marvelous selection of vintage-styled guitars. These models come with understated elegance and solid wood construction. D-45 is one such model. It`s non-cutaway body is made of rosewood back and sides with spruce sound board on top. Smooth and powerful are the right words to describe the tone of this outstanding dread. Hardwood neck is Martin`s traditional choice and V contour in it`s back is one of famous four Martin neck profiles. Top quality ebony is used for both the belly-contoured bridge and 20-fret fingerboard. Neck and fingerboard on this model feel majestically under the fingers and represent one of the finest combos in the industry.

I actually have the D-45 Custom It has hexagon fret inlays, reminiscent of the vintage D-45, but they're colorful abalone, not mother of pearl. In addition to the expected abalone binding on the top, back, sides, tone hole, and headstock, it also has abalone swirls on each side of the saddle, and an abalone vine pattern set into the pickguard. It has active Fishman electronics, so you can play it on stage, and gold hardware. This guitar has always been m holy grail. I never thought I would buy another guitar. As it turned out, I bought a $10,000 limited edition Taylor Fall LTD 2012 PS14CE about 6 months later, such is the obsession of guitarists, but the pair are both beautiful and have completely different tone profiles.
