Antiqua is one of the Handcraft Classical series models and one of the models developed by Jose Ramirez himself. The aim of the original Antigua was to capture the tone and the vibe of classical guitars from the beginning of the 20th century. Current incarnation of Antigua starts off as a completely acoustic classical guitar with six-string construction, 12th-fret dovetail joint and a flat fingerboard. Back and sides of the body are made of Indian rosewood (Madagascan rosewood is offered as alternative) and either a red cedar or German spruce top. The neck is made of cedar and sports a 19-fret ebony fingerboard on top. Midi equipment and conventional amplification are offered as extras. Other major features include a classical rosewood bridge and high precision classical tuning pegs.
