Pilot series is led by the elegant Pilot Deluxe model, the only one which is truly located above the series standard. Instead of the classic bolt-on, this model features the neck-through-body construction. Body of the Pilot Deluxe four-stringer is made of ash, or mahogany wings and maple/walnut neck center (this rich tonewood combination is far from the series standard agathis/maple combo seen on other Pilot models). DeArmond offers this model in two basic color options, Natural Ash and Natural Mahogany. Both are finished in satin and both feature chrome-plated hardware. On the top, both variants are equipped with a standard four-saddled hardtail bridge and a pair of humbucking pickups. Maple/walnut neck is topped with a standard 22-fret fingerboard made of ebony.
