Mixes, remixes, combined specs and compilations don`t always work out well. Mainly due to the lack of balance and wrong selection of elements taken from each side. But, U.S. Geddy Lee Jazz Bass has hit the bull`s eye. This is the dream come true for all the Geddy Lee and Rush fans out there. Even the words "the holy grail of Rush tone" wouldn`t be too out of place. This four-stringed marvel is a sublime combination of characteristics drawn from Geddy`s three favorite instruments - a pair of Custom Shop variants of his own signature model and the original `72 Jazz Bass Mr Lee played live and in studio. Between these three gems, there was no room for mistake or a wrong selection of features. The final product, the U.S. Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is a state-of-the-art tone machine which both looks and sounds marvelously. Offset and double-cut body is, of course, made of the finest alder available, while the neck is made of maple in its entirety (fingerboard, as well). Special Geddy Lee High Mass bridge is featured on the top with a pair of Custom Voiced American Vintage `70s Geddy Lee Jazz Pickups sitting in the front. Two volume knobs (which also double as pickup selectors/balancers) and a master tone knob make up the standard Jazz Bass controls unit. Classic Jazz Bass pickguard is also there on the top. C-shaped maple neck rocks a pretty standard maple fingerboard on top - 20 frets with white pearloid block inlays (back in the `70s, Fender models have largely discarded the traditional dot inlays in favor of the pearloid blocks) and a 1.5" wide synthetic bone nut. Vintage Fender tuners installed on the `70s headstock wrap up the specs list.
