Thunderbird series of basses which originates way back from 1963. Over decades and years, Thunderbird basses haven`t changed much in their appearance, but materials, pickups and tone have varied through incarnations. Always, both modern and traditional, Thunderbird bass has maintained a strong presence throughout the decades. Today, Thunderbird gets a brand new non-reverse body in the Studio class. It kicks off with a solid, non-reverse body made of mahogany. Body is flat, solid and equipped with mortise & tenon joint, as opposed to majority of T-birds, which feature neck-through-body construction. Also, this model doesn`t feature top wood cover, though a traditional pickguard is there. Vintage Sunburst and Pelham Blue are color options assigned to this model by Gibson. Both are finished in nitrocellulose gloss. Bridge on this model is a three-point Thunderbird bridge with four adjustable saddles, black chrome plating and top-load construction. Pickups on this model are Thunderbird pickups with ceramic magnets. Strong and versatile tone is their trademark and controls unit features master tone with two volume knobs. Neck is made of mahogany and it has rounded profile. Mortise & tenon joint connects the body and neck. Neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. Dot inlays, 12" radius and 1.50" wide corian nut complete the fingerboard. 34" scale and Grover tuners with black chrome plating wrap up the specs list. The MSRP for Thunderbird Studio Non-Reverse Bass is set at $1,899 for both color options available.
