Though heavily orinented towards the six-string players and guitars, Godin maintains two successful bass series, Shifter and Freeway. These feature four and five string variants. For 2012, Godin Guitars have updated the Shifter line with a Shifter Classic model which was unveiled at the NAMM Show this year. Shifter Classic is a solid bodied, double cutaway bass with much body resemblance to Precision bass. It`s body is made of Canadian basswood and features no binding around the flat top. The pickguard has a genuine Godin shape. Creme brulee color option is introduced for this model and it comes with gloss finish. The bridge comes with two options, it can either have a top-load, or string-through-body construction. Either way, it is plated in chrome. Pickups on this Shifter are made by Godin, and they come in J/P configuration. They are passive and controlled through master volume, master tone and a four-position blade switch. The neck is made of maple and attached to the body with a bolt-on joint. The fingerboard is also made of maple with 20 frets, 1.50" wide string nut, 16" radius and black dot position inlays. 34" scale ends the list of specs for Shifter Classic. The MSRP is set at $950.
