Here comes one of the first ever speed demons in the bass department. The magnificent BTB33 is the latest five-string creation from the acclaimed Ibanez Bass Workshop. It rocks the neck-through-body construction, passive electronics and the slightly shortened 33" scale. Solid and double-cut body of this five-string shredder is made of mahogany wings and maple/bubinga neck in the middle. It is covered with a gorgeous ash top. Extremely carved cutaway horns give a total access to the 24-fret fingerboard, making it easy to shred the night away. Instead of the standard hardtail variants, Ibanez has opted with the Monorail solution. Five completely independent string saddles take care of the tuning and intonation with superiority that`s never been seen before. In its front, a pair of Bartolini BH1-5 humbuckers is installed. They are manipulated through an elaborate controls unit consisting of a master volume, balancer, three-piece EQ (bass boost/cut, mid boost/cut, treble boost/cut) and a three-way mid frequency selector. In between the pickups, there`s a block of solid wood called the finger ramp. Basically, what it does, it aids the right hand speed by not letting the fingers sink too deep in between the pickups. Five-piece maple-bubinga neck offers unprecedented level of agility and speed, and features a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. Fingerboard is fit with a set of medium-sized frets, abalone dot inlays, and a TUSQ nut. One of the most important features of this beautiful five-string is its tuning. Due to the shortened scale, it comes in the EADGC, instead of BEADG tuning.
