Before the introduction of the 800 models, 700 models ruled the SR series. Nowadays, the 700 models are still among the best options in the standard SR lineup. They qualify for the upper intermediate class of the market with their exceptional build quality and versatile tone. For 2014, Ibanez refreshes and updates the basic SR700 model. It now comes with a solid and carved double-cut body and a bolted neck. Body is made of mahogany back and flamed maple top. Three color options are available for this model: Amber, Cobalt Blue Surge and Charcoal Brown. All three are finished in gloss and all of them sport black hardware. Accu-Cast B-300 bridge is featured on the top. This four-saddled bridge has hardtail construction and is clad in cosmo black paint (Ibanez variation of black). Pickups in the front are Bartolini Mk-1 soapbar pickups. They come with an elaborate controls unit (volume, balance, three-band equalizer and frequency switch). Neck is made of five pieces of jatoba and bubinga and is topped with a standard 24-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.
