StingRay series has been around for four decades and is one of the most iconic and classic basses ever made. It is up there, in the same class as Rickenbacker`s 4000 series, Precision, Jazz, Thunderbird, and a handful of other, distinguished basses.
StingRay Old Smoothie is a 40th Anniversary model. It is a near-perfect recreation of the StingRay prototype #26 (designed for Sterling Ball while he tested and helped develop the original StingRays). The original color palette (2016) included only Chocolate Burst, with Mint Green and Butterscotch being added for 2017.
Specs list highlights include a solid and double-cut alder body, a bolt-on maple neck, 21-fret maple fingerboard (34" scale, black dot inlays, 7.5" radius), four-saddled hardtail bridge, the "Old Smoothie" bridge humbucker (w/10 pole pieces), and Schaller tuners.
